In December 2005 the Chier Foundation was created by a group of Park City, Utah residents who, like many others around the country were inspired by the story of “the Lost Boys” and saw a chance to make something right in our corner of the world. After getting to know many of these young men living in Salt Lake City, and being deeply impressed with their character, their strong work ethic, their warmth and commitment to family, we felt compelled to serve as a sort of parents to these young men, many who couldn’t even remember the faces of their own parents. In creating Chier our board hoped to change lives through providing a college education- and in the process discovered that in knowing these young men our own lives have been deeply changed as well.
