A leveraged donation: Once they are students with an academic track record, many of the Lost Boys seek and obtain state and federal grants so assist with a significant portion of their tuition needs. Chier provides a Lost Boy’s initial momentum but capitalizes on other resources.

Sudan’s crisis is large, complex and still deeply unstable. These young men have endured more in their short lives than most of us can imagine, yet have come through with a grace and courage that is inspirational.
